TEXT MESSAGING

DigiTEXT is Digicel’s easy-to-use text messaging service (also known SMS) that allows you to:

·         Send and receive text messages up to 160 characters in length using your Digicel mobile phone

·         Send messages to another Digicel subscriber no matter where they are

DigiTEXT messages are delivered immediately if the receiving handset is switched on. Messages are stored and sent at a later time if the receiving handset is switched off.
All Digicel subscribers have this feature once they are on the Digicel Network.

How does it work?

  • Go to Menu
  • SELECT Messages
  • Choose to write a message
  • Enter phone number (You can choose between typing the number or retrieving it from your phonebook)
  • Send Message

DIGICEL WEB-TEXT

 

What is webTEXT?
Digicel webTEXT is another first for Digicel. This service allows Digicel customers to log on to the Digicel website and send up to 30 messages absolutely FREE to other Digicel subscribers over a period of one month!

How do I find it on the Digicel website?
Simply go to www.digicelanguilla.com click on the link "WebText" From the home page you can either log-in or register if you’re a first time user.

Is this service available to non-Digicel customers?
No – this service is exclusively for Digicel customers to send messages to other Digicel customers.

Do I have to register?
The first time you use the service, we ask that you register using a very simple form. After that, you simply log on using your Digicel mobile phone number and assigned password and you can send messages.

If I register twice – do I get twice the allocation of 30 messages?
Only one registration per number is allowed. When you register, a text message will be sent to you with your password. If you try and register under someone else’s number then you will not receive the password because the password is sent directly to the number that is registering.

Can I change my password?
Yes – you can change your password at any stage and as often as you wish. Simply log-on and click on the option to change password.

What happens if I forget my password?
If you forget your password, go to the log-on page, enter your Digicel number into the field provided and we'll send you your message via text message.

If I forget my password can I call 100 to get it?
No – to protect your privacy, your password is stored in a secure database that customer care staff do not have access to. If you forget your password customer care staff will not be able to send it to you. You must go to the website and request your password as above.

How many messages can I send?
Users can send up to 30 messages per month and send up to 5 messages at any one time.

What if I use all my 30 messages?
When you use all 30 messages then you must wait until your message quota is renewed – the date of renewal is indicated on the website when you log on.

Can I send more than 30 messages?
The limit of messages from the webTEXT service is 30. To send more messages simply send them as per usual from your phone.

Is the service anonymous; will the recipient know whom the message is coming from?
The service is not anonymous, when you send the message it will appear to be coming from your mobile number so the recipient knows exactly who has sent them a message.

How does the message appear to the person I’m sending it to?
To the recipient, the message will appear as though it’s coming directly from your mobile number. If they reply then the reply will go directly to your handset.

If I send the same message to 5 different recipients, will they each know that the other has received it?

No – the recipient does not see a mailing list, so will see the message simply as coming from your number to them. If they respond, the reply goes directly to your phone and no one else is copied


VOICEMAIL

Digicel's voicemail service is easy to use, fast to access and retrieval is FREE from your Digicel mobile phone.

It's your 24-hour answering service that automatically takes a message for you when your phone is in use, switched off or when you can't answer your phone.

It's as easy as 1-2-3! Simply dial 123 to access your voicemail from your Digicel mobile phone. Dial 123 then press 9 for the menu and you can change your login options, record your name and greeting and much more!

If dialing from a landline or another phone, you must dial 584 6245. You will be asked to enter your 7-digit mobile phone number and enter a password. The first time you dial this number from a land line you will be asked to enter your password. The default password is 1234; we recommend you change this password. If you have forgotten your password, please call Customer Care on 100 from your Digicel mobile phone.

If you are roaming, simply dial +1 868 351 0000 and you will be asked to enter your mobile number and your password.


DIRECT VOICEMAIL DEPOSIT (DVD)

Digicel’s Direct Voicemail Deposit service allows you leave someone a voicemail without actually calling that person.
This is a new, easy and non-intrusive method for leaving a message for someone at anytime.
Simply dial *123 from your Digicel Mobile and you would be prompted to record your message.
eg: To leave a voicemail for 584 6245, Dial from your Digicel Mobile: *1233500000
You would then be prompted to leave a voicemail message for the number you dialed.
The recipient would receive a text message (SMS) informing them that they have a new voicemail.
Charges for this service are in line with standard Digicel to Digicel Rates, based on the voice plan that the user is currently on. Post paid users cannot use their bundled minutes for this service. Promotional rates do not apply for this service.
Direct Voicemail Deposit can only be used from Digicel to Digicel mobiles.
Roaming customers would not be allowed to use the DVD service.


MULTIMEDIA MESSAGING (MMS)- LOCAL, CARIBBEAN & INTERNATIONAL

 

Multimedia Messaging (MMS)

Multimedia Messaging* (MMS) enables you to exchange a combination of text, audio, picture and video** between other Digicel subscribers. You can also send MMS messages to an email address. Each message sent is charged at a flat rate of BDS $0.75. There is no charge to receive an MMS message message.

How does it work?

  • Go to Menu
  • SELECT Messages
  • SELECT MMS
  • Choose to add text, audio, picture &/or video as desired
  • Enter phone number, email address or select recipient from your phonebook
  • Send Message

Alternatively you can take a picture or record a video or audio clip and send as an MMS message straight away.

Note: 
*To use MMS you must have a GPRS/EDGE compatible handset that supports MMS.

• Yes, once you are roaming within a Digicel territory you can use the MMS service.

While roaming in USA and Canada can I use this service?

• Once the network you are roaming on supports the MMS service you will be able to send MMS messages to other Digicel territories and your home network (Digicel TT).


  What if the person I sent the MMS to does not receive it-what should I do?

• You can advise the receiver to ensure that their handset has enough memory to download the MMS on their handset.
• Ensure that the MMS settings is saved on the recipients phone
• Ensure that the recipient is currently on a network that supports GPRS/MMS service
• Recipient must be on a Network that we (Digicel) have MMS interconnection with.


 

My Mail


You can easily access MyMail via our “DigielLive* Portal. MyMail allows Digicel customers with a WAP compatible handset to access and manage personal email accounts from a mobile phone. The email accounts accessible via MyMail are:

·         Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo
